AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) – Chrysler says it will double the $4,500 government incentive for people to trade in their old gas guzzlers for new vehicles under the “cash for clunkers” program.
The automaker announced Wednesday that it will offer up to $4,500 cash or zero percent financing for six years on most of its 2009 Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep models.
The incentive begins Thursday and lasts until Aug. 31.
Chrysler Group LLC says in a statement that buyers are eligible even if they don’t qualify for the clunkers program.
The government’s “cash for clunkers” program is expected to begin later this month.
It gives owners of inefficient, older vehicles up to a $4,500 incentive to trade them in and send them to the scrap heap in exchange for more efficient models.

Trucks Still King in the South! On Friday, April 24th, 2009 Denny Rogers reported good news to Tom Pace on “The Talk of the Town.”
In a “One-on-One” interview with Pace, he says that while new car sales have dropped significantly nationwide, locally in the Ark-La-Tex…their new truck sales share at Landers Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep had their best month ever in March, 2009.
Rogers, the Managing Partner for Landers Dodge, says their move to Bossier has been a very good one, and that more and more women are choosing the versatility of crew cab trucks for their family vehicle.
There is a new and/or used dealership almost on every corner and now the car buying process is becoming more competetive and “virtual” day by day. Where it was once the local dealer that ruled and reigned over their immediate territory, dealers from across the globe are snatching customers from literally anywhere, and I mean anywhere! The upside to this variable is that dealers who once treated customers like the scum of the earth, are challenged to get their act together and render due respect and professionalism, or get forced out of the car business and try hot dog stands or something because customer loyalty and retention is the fuel that runs the success engine of any business. We have sold cars all over the United States and as far away as Italy. Our backyard is the entire world now…literally. Our presence is on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Craig’s List, Ebay, our own personal website and anywhere a car ad can be populated. We “twitter” because we realize today’s customers want, not only, excellenct service before and after the sale, but they also appreciate a good flow of communication. People don’t like to feel like a statistic or just a number. Consumers want to know their business is appreciated and that if a problem arises, their salesperson will be there to assist them. There is a challenge for dealerships to go above and beyond the call of duty to gain customer loyalty and retention without maiking the cusotmer feel like it was a drudgery. This makes establishing a constant flow of contact much easier. Not only will loyal patrons welcome years of constant communication, we know they will also promote our dealership to their friends and family. Twitter is simply a new exciting means we use to communicate, reward and update our past, present, and future customers. Please follow us on twitter as we strive to raise the bar and set the standard in car buying process. We are not perfect and we make mistakes but with your help, we can continue to be the #1 Dodge Chrysler Jeep dealer in Louisiana. Customer satisfaction is our main goal and it is the foundation for how Landers conducts business. Follow us on twitter for prizes, real time updates and to also give us real time feedback, positive or negative. Remember, Landers is right at your finger tips and only a few keystrokes away!
